Prior to Saturday’s games, Chelsea were ten points clear at the top of the table, but a 2-1 loss at home to Crystal Palace reduced our lead at the top to seven points.

Spurs, meanwhile, defeated Burnley 2-0 in a hard-fought encounter with second-half goals from Eric Dier and Son Heung-min.

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino said after the win: “It’s massive for us because look what happened [at Chelsea], we reduce the gap to seven points now.

“It’s important for us to be there if Chelsea fail. We are there, we are fighting to finish as high as possible and today we must feel very proud.

“Seven points is completely different to 10, but there’s still a lot of work to do, if they fade we need to do our job and if we do that we can be there until the end of the season.”
