After a morale-boosting win against Southampton, optimism among Chelsea fans is on the high, even despite Spurs still being four points behind with their win against Crystal Palace. More so, with timing running out on Spurs to catch Chelsea, the title looks near than faraway from our grasp.
Here are 3 reasons for us to be optimistic of title glory:
HOME ADVANTAGE IN FIXTURE RUN-IN:
One real reason for optimism is our advantage in the fixture schedules in the title run-in. With five games remaining against: Everton(a), Middlesbrough(h), Watford(h), WestBrom(a), Sunderland(h), Chelsea’s run-in seems quite favourable considering we have three homes games to play. Our sparkling form at Stamford Bridge means we’re likely to take maximum points from those games. Also, with only Everton as the real big test left and a tricky game against West Brom, we stand a realistic chance to win than lose the title. Spurs title run-in are sterner with games against West Ham, Man. Utd, Arsenal, Hull City and Leicester City, which might just be to Chelsea’s advantage as these clashes might be a bridge too far for them.
CHELSEA BACK TO GOALSCORING FRENZY:
Chelsea’s back-to-back win against Spurs in the FA semifinal and the league game against Southampton has seen us score eight goals which is a boost in our quest for league glory. Also, with star striker Diego Costa back in the goals with a brace against the Saints in midweek, Chelsea look on course for league triumph. With the team playing in top gear, there’s no cause for alarm as the dust of casualties hitherto our clash against Spurs has finally settled.
CONTE’S MAGIC WAND:
Antonio Conte’s swashbuckling first season has been a headliner in a league campaign that was dubbed: ‘The Champions League of Managers’. The passionate Italian has proved that his successes with the Italy national team and Italian side, Juventus are no fluke. His capacity to transform Chelsea from mid-table mediocres to super achievers this season. His tactical style and system has worked wonders at Chelsea this season and should surely be a reason for us to be optimistic of our chances of winning the league.
Let’s keep the blue flag flying high. Cheers.
