Reports coming out from Italy claim Chelsea have had a bid of £85 million for a Serie A striker rejected.
According to Italian newspaper Tuttosport via Daily Express, Chelsea have had a bid of £85 million for Torino’s 23-year-old striker Andrea Belotti rejected.
The report claims Chelsea’s bid for Belotti was said to consist of a £51m initial fee with a further £34m in performance-based bonuses.
Tuttosport claim Torino president Urbano Cairo want £85 million up front for Belotti – matching his buy-out clause.
Belotti is the joint-top scorer in the Serie A with 24 goals in 28 appearances and Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is reportedly an admirer of the striker.
Belotti has seven caps for Italy after making his debut last September and he has scored three goals for the Italian national team.
Earlier this month Torino president Urbano Cairo claimed Torino aren’t keen to sell Belotti but admitted Belotti could leave if his release clause of £85 million is met.
“Everything depends on Belotti, he could say no to a farewell and our relationship with him is wonderful,” Cairo said.
“But then if they offer €100m (£85m) from abroad he could leave.
“I think we can continue a bit longer together.”
Can we trust this report from Tuttosport or is this just one of those outrageous transfer rumours?
