Tottenham played Watford in the early kick-off on Saturday before Chelsea played Bournemouth in the late kick-off and Tottenham will again play before Chelsea next weekend.
Ex-Chelsea winger Clive Walker revealed television broadcasters are opting to schedule Tottenham matches before Chelsea games because they want to keep things exciting as possible as the season reaches a climax.
“As we are seeing the fixtures build up towards the end of the season, television broadcasters who are showing the matches understandably want to keep things as exciting as possible,” Walker wrote in Chelsea’s official website.
“That is presumably a big part of the reason for Tottenham playing before us on Saturday, and they are once again the early kick-off next Saturday, while we travel to Old Trafford on Sunday.
“If Tottenham keep winning and reducing the deficit, the pressure switches back on to us a little.
“Coming through with three points was the most important thing (against Bournemouth), as it will be in our remaining seven Premier League games of the season.”
