On paper, Chelsea played their last big game on Sunday – in the 2-0 loss to Manchester United. Tottenham might have reduced the gap to four points, but they have a trickier fixture than Chelsea, and this has prompted former Blackburn and Newcastle striker Alan Shearer to suggest that if they must stand any chance of winning the league, they must win all their remaining games.
“Mauricio Pochettino has seen his side win seven on the bounce home and away in the league, too,” Shearer wrote in his Sun column.
“But that will have to extend to 13 if they are to win the league.
“Yes, the gap on Chelsea is now back to four points. But look at the two clubs’ run-ins and Spurs are still going to need to win every league game from now until the end of the season.”
Tottenham have three tricky London derby games in a row – Crystal Palace, Arsenal and West Ham, and then tricky games against Manchester United, Leicester City and Hull City.
