Real Madrid are keen on signing Chelsea star Eden Hazard, and Chelsea are bent on keeping the Belgian and even giving him a new bumper contract to keep him at the club beyond 2020.
However, Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson admits he’d be shocked if Hazard doesn’t make the move to Real Madrid.
When asked about the 26-year-old’s future, Arsenal legend Merson told Sky Sports: “I think he goes.
“The pinnacle of everyone’s career is to play for Real Madrid or Barcelona. I’d be very shocked if he didn’t go.”
Meanwhile, Matt Le Tissier was of the opinion that Hazard’s importance to Chelsea might make it hard for the Blues to let go of him. He said: “It’s massively important [they keep him]. He’d be impossible to replace at Chelsea.
“He’s been sizzling this season, he really has. How much money would it take to try and get somebody to replace him?
“I know they’ve got money at Chelsea but trying to identify someone who can have as much influence as he’s had on their season will be a very tough job.”
