Seven points currently separate Chelsea and Tottenham at the top of the table, and Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson believes it could drop to four points by early Saturday.

He backed Chelsea to beat Manchester City on Wednesday, but believes Tottenham will win Watford on Saturday afternoon, as Spurs will play before Chelsea – a game he believes will drop the gap to 4 points, pending Chelsea’s evening kick-off against Bournemouth.

Merson said: “I think there is still a title race, because I’ve got Tottenham to win, and then I fancy them to win again early Saturday against Watford, so that would be four points.

“I think the gap will close over the next three or four weeks, but Chelsea to win here.”
