John Terry’s 22-year association with Chelsea will come to an end at the end of this season and former Tottenham Hotspur manager Gerry Francis has heaped praises on the 36-year-old.
He told Sky Sports: “He’s been an icon for them for many years.
“He’s a true legend from that point of view. The fact he is leaving is for me that he wants to carry on playing.
“Obviously his opportunities are going to be limited but he wants to play so he has to leave to play.
“I certainly feel if things go well for him I can see him coming back to Chelsea in a coaching capacity if that’s what he wants to do.
“I don’t think it’s the end of the road for John Terry. There’s still a good few years in there for him to play.”
