A joke against Arsenal is always a good joke, but this isn’t really a joke; these are some serious words of a former Chelsea player, which makes it all the more funny.

While Chelsea have the best signing of the summer in the person of N’Golo Kante, former Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino believes our London neighbours Arsenal have made the worst signing in the Premier League history, with their purchase of Granit Xhaka.

Xhaka joined the Gunners for a fee of around £30million last summer with a massive reputation but the 24-year-old has been woeful so far.

“Arsenal spent over £90m in the summer and none of the signings have proven themselves,” Cascarino said on talkSPORT.

“Lucas Perez has hardly had a kick, he’s in and out of the team. He looks a good player but just doesn’t play often enough.

“Granit Xhaka has been one of the worst signings of the season – maybe the worst of all-time.

“He’s been very poor.”

The former Borussia Monchengladbach captain has picked up nine yellow and two red cards in just his first season in the Premier League.
