On this day in 2016, Antonio Conte was officially announced as the manager of Chelsea, ending speculation on who will be the next manager of Chelsea, after the sack of Jose Mourinho and Guus Hiddink’s interim job nearly running out.
The Italian was then the manager of the Italy national team, who he guided to a quarterfinal place in the Euro tournament last summer.
Speaking of his one year anniversary as Chelsea manager, Conte said: “Time flies. It is good for me. This is a fantastic experience for me and for my family also, and it is great to be here and to have a press conference talking about the possibility of winning the league, because it was not sure one year ago that we could be in this position.”
So far, he has done a good job and the fans have taken to him very well.
