The Steven Gerrard slip that cost Liverpool the Premier League title in 2014 is one that many Chelsea fans fondly remember till this day, and one of the worst moments (if not the worst moment) in Gerrard’s career.

Former Chelsea striker Fernando Torres, who formed a formidable partnership with the Liverpool legend before making the switch to Chelsea, has admitted that he felt sorry for Gerrard on that fateful day.

On the slip, which cost Liverpool at such a crucial point in the 2014 season, he said: “I felt so sorry for Stevie.

“We didn’t have chances to win the Premier League and Liverpool were so close.

“And I know how important it is for Liverpool to win the Premier League after so many years and it was so unfair for Stevie.

“He was the person who really deserved to win the Premier League, but that’s football, in one second everything changed.”
