Marcos Alonso’s brilliant free-kick sealed Chelsea’s 3-1 victory against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday.
Alonso had hit the woodwork twice in his previous three attempts before scoring the free-kick against Bournemouth.
Alonso revealed his Chelsea team-mates joked with him before he stepped up and scored the free-kick to fire the free-kick an inch lower.
“Yeah, I hit the post twice already [in previous matches],” Alonso said.
“When I took the ball, everyone was saying, ‘please, one inch lower…’
“I was very happy because it was the goal which gave us the peace to relax and make the game more comfortable.
“So happy for that and hopefully more to come.”
Alonso’s goal against Bournemouth was his fifth goal for Chelsea since arriving from Fiorentina in the summer.
