Chelsea youngster Nathan Ake, has received his first senior team call-up for the Netherlands national team, having only featured in their youth teams.
The 22-year-old impressed for Eddie Howe’s side during the first half of the season with Bournemouth before he was recalled from his spell on the south coast by Antonio Conte, and the young Dutchman has also impressed in his few games for the Blues.
Despite having only played few games for the Blues, the centre-back has been called up for the upcoming World Cup qualifier.
Netherlands boss Dick Advocaat called Ake up for their three games coming up in the next few weeks and his call-up comes after it was reported at the start of the month that the Ivory Coast wanted the player to switch allegiances.
Advocaat’s team will play a friendly against Morocco on May 31, before facing Luxembourg in a World Cup qualifier five days after facing The Elephants.
If he features against Luxembourg, then he’d no longer be eligible to play for Ivory Coast.
