Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez has just a year left on his Arsenal contract and with Arsenal missing out on Champions League football, the Chilean may seek an exit away from the club.
Chelsea are rumoured to be keen on the 28-year-old, and Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has weighed in on whether Sanchez will be staying at the Emirates or leave for a bigger club.
“I hope that he’s going to stay but he wants to be in the Champions League, he wants to be in a club that is competing at least and it hasn’t happened recently (at Arsenal),” Henry said on Sky Sports.
“I’m talking about in the Champions League and Premier League because he won the FA Cup already with Arsenal.
“Who knows what’s going to happen with him? Is he going to listen to other teams that are going to come and get him?”
Henry then added that if Sanchez doesn’t enjoy success in Arsenal, he’d seek an exit.
He added: “He’s 28, 29 soon so he knows the clock is ticking and I’m sure he wants to be successful with Arsenal.
“But if he doesn’t think it’s going to happen, like this year and next year they won’t be in the Champions League, so it will be another year and it’s not certain you will make the Champions League.
“Let’s see what is going to happen this summer but it’s vital to keep him.”
