West Ham defeated Tottenham 1-0 at the London Stadium on Friday night to all but end Spurs hopes of winning the title this season.
It dawned on everyone that Chelsea will now have it easy and win the league. However, former Arsenal and Celtic striker Charlie Nicholas believes the title was won after Chelsea defeated Everton 3-0 at the Goodison Park last weekend.
When asked if the Everton victory all but sealed the title, Nicholas said on Sky Sports: “It was for me.
“We know how professional they are. It was the patience that they showed at Everton. You’re going after titles and you see some players as soon as the whistle goes they are at 100mph, they are in a hurry.
“(But) they just kept everything calm, where you’ve got players at the standard of Hazard in particular, but Pedro, he’s had an excellent season as much as David Luiz.
“You can leave on the bench Fabregas who is probably the best passer of the ball in the Premier League.
“Yes it (Pedro’s goal) was a stunning, stunning finish but it was really about patience up until that moment.
“When you’ve got something magical in your team that can do that.”
