Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is on course to win the Premier League title with Chelsea this season following the poor defence of the title last season.

Conte’s switch to 3-4-3 after our loss to Arsenal at Emirates early this season is one of the key factors behind Chelsea’s title challenge but Chelsea legend Ricardo Carvalho, who won two Premier League titles under Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge believes Mourinho laid the foundation for Conte’s success.

“The truth is that Chelsea have great players too. They were champions with Mourinho,” Carvalho told Omnisport via Metro UK.

“The next year things did not go well, but the players are there. The players who have been champions, most are there.

“And so, of course, Conte has merit too because he changed the team’s strategy a bit, but most of the players who were champions with Mourinho were there.

“So quality and talent were there. And this [season], fortunately, they are playing well and will manage to win again, at least they are well on the way.”

I think it’s sad to see Carvalho question Conte’s impact at Chelsea. These players won the league with Mourinho no doubt but these players failed to perform last season and all credit (not some) must go to Conte for the turnaround in the fortunes of Chelsea.

Players like David Luiz and Victor Moses were not trusted by Mourino but they have been brilliant under Conte.

The strategy and turn around by Antonio Conte are of his own, and not that the foundation was laid by Mourinho. Conte changed the team to a much desiplined Chelsea FC we have today. Not that the team wasn’t desciplined, but now really at its highest quality of doing the job.
