Chelsea U18 just had to win their last league game against Reading to become champions, irrespective of what happens in Arsenal’s game.
With the FA Youth Cup and league southern section title already won, Chelsea U18 defeated Reading 3-0 to become youth league champions.
The first-half of the game ended goalless despite Chelsea’s pressure. The Blues started the second-half with a swap up front as Martell Taylor-Crossdale replaced Ike Ugbo and the 17-year-old was joined by Sterling as Morris continued with his switch to 4-diamond-2.
Gallagher started the Chelsea rout with a good finish in the 57th minute, a goal which brought relief to Chelsea.
St Clair was then introduced as we switched to a more familiar 4-2-3-1 and any lingering nerves were banished with two further Chelsea goals in five minutes.
Substitute Harvey St Clair doubled Chelsea’s lead in the 70th minute and Mason Mount made it three five minutes later.
The referee’s final whistle sparked celebration from the Chelsea youth and marked a successful season for the young Blues who won a treble this season.
