Chelsea U18 continued their fine form in the Youth League with a 3-1 win against derby rivals Arsenal.
The Gunners needed a win to seal the title with a first win at Cobham since 2011, while Chelsea needed a victory to wrestle back control in the title race ahead of their final game of the season later in the week.
Cole Dasilva’s left-footed strike in the 10th minute opened the lead for Chelsea and Trevoh Chalobah’s 35th minute header put Jody Morris’s men in command before the break but Eddie Nketiah’s reply for Arsenal four minutes after the break ensured Arsenal were back into the game.
The game became a tense affair with the scores at 2-1 and Arsenal pushing for a equaliser. But substitute Taylor-Crossdale who replaced Dasilva in the 69th minute struck his 21st goal of the campaign less than ten minutes after coming on, drilling a low effort inside the near post from just inside the box.
The win ensured the three points for the young Blues who play Reading next on Friday and could secure the title then.
