Chelsea youngster Mason Mount has made the shortlist for the Premier League 2 Player of the Season award.

The 18-year-old midfielder has been nominated alongside 10 others for the accolade following a campaign in which he featured in 21 of our 22 league outings as we finished fifth in the table.

Mount has been training at the club since the age of six and he also captained our FA Youth Cup team to glory, a fourth consecutive trophy triumph in the competition, and played his part as our Under-18s were crowned national champions last week, scoring the third goal in a 3-0 win against Reading. Across all competitions, he scored 10 goals in 35 starts.

The shortlist was selected by a panel of Premier League representatives after PL2 managers had nominated the best individual performance from each of their opponents over the course of the season.

Mount was rewarded with a new professional contract last month, which ties him to the club until 2021.
