Chelsea captain and legend John Terry started his final Premier League game for Chelsea and came off after 26 minutes with his teammates forming a guard of honour for him.
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte revealed after Chelsea’s 5-1 win over Sunderland at Stamford Bridge that it was important to find the right solution to celebrate a great champion.
“I said it was very important to find the right solution to celebrate a great champion, a legend of this club,” Conte said.
“To start the game, he deserved it and then to have the substitution after 26 minutes.
“He deserved this celebration because he wrote Chelsea history and I wish for him and for his family for the best.
“For me, for the club it will be a great loss next season with our team because he helped me a lot on and off the pitch. Now we must respect his decision and to follow.”
