Chelsea will clinch the title tonight if we beat West Brom at the Hawthorns. While we might be celebrating a Premier League title tonight, and the second in the last three seasons, it wasn’t like this in the beginning.

Antonio Conte has recounted how it all started and how the team suffered to get to where they are.

“We started this season with three wins, but honestly I wasn’t calm because I didn’t see what I wanted to see,” Conte said.

“Then I saw my team improve step by step. That was very important after defeats to Liverpool and Arsenal. Against Liverpool, after three wins and a draw, a defeat could happen, but after another bad defeat against Arsenal, I understood we had to change something in the tactical aspect.

“I saw my team then improve game by game, increasing their confidence in our work and what we were doing.

“If you ask me for one moment, I don’t see a moment. I saw my team improving step by step, but for sure when you play away against City and you win, the confidence improves.

“When you win against United at home, or draw against Liverpool and miss a penalty with 10 minutes to go, the confidence improved a lot. These are moments when you understand you can fight for the title, but to know you will win it or not is very difficult.”
