Arsenal’s Laurent Koscielny will miss the FA Cup final against Chelsea after Arsenal’s appeal against his red card was rejected by the FA.
Koscielny was shown a red card in the 14th minute of the Gunners’ 3-1 win at home to Everton on Sunday for a horror tackle on Enner Valencia.
Arsenal appealed against the red card, but the FA have confirmed it has been rejected – meaning Koscielny will miss the Gunners’ next three games, starting with the FA Cup final against Chelsea at Wembley on Saturday.
A statement on the FA’s website on Tuesday read: “Laurent Koscielny will serve a three-match suspension with immediate effect after a claim of wrongful dismissal was unsuccessful.
“The Arsenal defender was sent off for serious foul play during the game against Everton on Sunday [21 May 2017].
“An Independent Regulatory Commission heard the case today [Tuesday 23 May 2017].”
