Football is a joker. Its propensity to do a stunt often surprises the lovers of the game. This surprise effect can diminish or boost the morale of teams. We can surely remember the match against Crystal Palace at the Bridge. We started the game beautifully with a goal lead only to crash down to the earth courtesy of two quick-fire goals that saw our lead cut down to 7 points. For Palace and Spurs fans it was beautiful, but for Chelsea fans, it was ugly. It was a bad day at the office. We were jaded but not a faded force. That was a missed opportunity and until then we seemed to be run-away league winners.
After also seeing our lead cut to 4 points with a defeat against Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United with an insipid performance, the alarm bells were louder. Could a Chelsea collapse be on the horizon? But with emphatic wins against Spurs (in the FA Cup semifinals), Southampton and Everton in the league, Conte true blues were back to life. We needed a team to deal Tottenham a shock result in order to kill their title dream.
Finally, West Ham United delivered the bomb that made Spurs to implode. Now, the title race is looking all but over, but Chelsea and Conte must seize the opportunity to hit Spurs a harder blow with a win over Middlesbrough and West Brom that will confirm us as Champions for the second time in 3 years. It’s now or never and let’s pull the trigger.
I’m still a true blue, Cheers!
