Chelsea second choice goalkeeper Asmir Begovic made just his second appearance of the league season last night in the 4-3 win over Watford.
Premier League rules state players must have played at least five games to earn a medal, and the Bosnian is three games shy of being eligible for the medal, with Chelsea having just one more league game left to play.
The Bosnian has challenged the rule while insisting that he deserves a medal.
“I think the rule should be changed, I don’t know about the whole five appearances,” he told Sky Sports News.
“Having been part of the group all year, we’ve all sacrificed, played our part in the team each and every day.
“But they really have to look at that rule again because I don’t think five appearances should warrant a medal.
“It’s the rule for now, thankfully I get one and obviously to have that in your career is great.”
With the rule now being flexible, Begovic will most likely get a medal.
