Chelsea captain John Terry broke through the Chelsea youth system in 1998 and immediately made an impression on the first team players.
Former Blue Mario Melchiot joined Chelsea a year after and the former Holland star was taken aback by Terry’s enthusiasm for the game.
“You know what’s so smart about John Terry? He made sure he learned so much from the people that came along at the club,” Melchiot said on Fantasy Football Club.
“He would ask me questions that I thought ‘Nobody has asked me that’ or talk to me about Ajax.
“I thought ‘you’re so young why do you want to know that, you have enough stars around you’.
“This guy was always out there to make sure he could really progress in his career.”
Little wonder he’s one of the greatest players and captains the Premier League has ever seen.
