Chelsea were confirmed Premier League champions on Friday night, as a win against West Brom was all the Blues needed to become current champions.
Chelsea enjoyed an injury free campaign, and a season without much congestion due to our absence in the Champions League.
Football pundit Niall Quinn believes that the gift former boss Jose Mourinho gave the club was ensuring that the team didn’t partake in the Champions League this season.
“They had no Champions League football which was a bit of a gift Jose left for them,” he said on Sky Sports.
“They capitalised on them a little bit.
“They were just repeating the same XI week in, week out in the winter months.
“Whereas Man City were making changes all over the place and others finding it difficult playing in Europe.
“They were the strongest team. Looking back we kind of knew they weren’t going to falter.”
