Chelsea legend Pat Nevin has urged Antonio Conte to sign Kieran Tierney in the summer transfer window.

The 19-year-old Celtic defender has made 72 appearances for Celtic since his debut back in 2014 and has caught the attention of many Premier League clubs.

Nevin believes Tierney would be a hit with Chelsea having watched him since his younger days

“I would take Tierney at Chelsea right now,” Nevin said on BBC Radio 5 Live.

“He’s that good. I remember Tierney in his early days and watching him for Scotland against England.

“The highest possible complement you can possibly pay a player is that he reminds me of Danny McGrain. You can’t say anymore than that.”

Nevin believes Tierney will be a better signing than Moussa Dembele.

He added: “I think Dembele would be wise to stay at Celtic to develop.

“I don’t think he’s the finished article all be it he has really turned up to the big games.

“For Kieran Tierney [a top four side would be interested]. Tierney would easily play in the Premier League.

“I think for Dembele’s development he’s better off staying there. With Tierney, I think they’re building something good at the moment so why not stay and give the Champions League a real crack?”
