Gary Cahill was part of the title-winning campaign two seasons ago, and has been a regular presence in the Chelsea team that have gone on to become champions of England after beating West Brom last night.
Cahill has admitted that the team worked hard for this while also praising Batshuayi for his goal.
“It’s got a nice ring to it. We’ve worked so hard all season to be in a position to get this trophy. It’s felt like it’s been so close but so far away,’ the 31-year-old said afterwards. He played a role in the build-up, after his initial shot was blocked Cesar Azpilicueta turned the ball back across the box for Batshuayi to slide home.
“That wasn’t my best strike this season but I’ll take it all day long,” Cahill smiled. “I’m delighted for Michy, we’ve been together as a group all season, that’s what got us to where we are. Michy hasn’t played as much football as he would want but to score the winner is great for him.”
