Antonio Conte’s men lost the chance to complete the Double as the Blues lost 2-1 against Arsenal in the finals of the FA Cup.
Alexis Sanchez put his team ahead as early as the 4th minute of the game, and despite Diego Costa’s equaliser in the 77th minute, the Chelsea defence went to sleep two minutes later as Aaron Ramsey put the Gunners back in front.
Speaking after the game, Conte said of his team’s reaction to the goal: “I don’t know if my players had the time to recover, I need to look at the goal. but there is a clear handball, but i don’t know why the referee didn’t decide to whistle. It can happen. A player makes a mistake, the referee makes a mistake. I think that we were unlucky.”
The Chelsea boss clearly wasn’t impressed with his team’s start. He said: “Our start wasn’t good enough. They started the game better than us.
“Honestly the goal after three minutes in this way, I think this goal was disallowed because there was a clear handball. Our start wasn’t good, then we started to play in the second half, we created chances to equalise. The second yellow card for Moses was one of the two key moments, but despite this we were able to equalise. Then we let in after one moment and it was the key moment for our loss. We created another chance with Diego, but Ospina made a good save.”
