Brazil wonderkid Gabriel Barbosa was due to join Chelsea last summer, but the club backed out of the deal to sign the 20-year-old forward popularly known as Gabigol due to the promising prospect of Tammy Abraham, who’s around the same age with the Brazilian.
According to the Daily Telegraph, Chelsea have had Abraham in their plans for some time, so much so that they passed up an exciting opportunity to sign one of the world’s most highly rated young forwards a year ago.
Abraham has clearly impressed enough in his loan spell at Bristol City to convince the club he has a future in their senior side as well.
The 19-year-old has enjoyed a superb season out on loan at Bristol City this term, scoring 26 goals in 48 games, and is reportedly set to earn a new contract at Chelsea.
With Chelsea keen on the future of Abraham, Gabigol, instead made the move to Inter Milan, where he has struggled, but he had been linked with a host of top European sides after impressing in his native Brazil.
