Chelsea have been linked with a move for Everton striker Romelu Lukaku and Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata this summer.
According to Evening Standard, Chelsea have reportedly prioritised signing Lukaku ahead of Morata because Lukaku has the added appeal of counting as a home-grown player under the quota requirements set by the Premier League and Champions League.
Lukaku signed for Chelsea from Anderlecht as an 18-year-old, meaning he satisfies the demand of having played in England for three seasons before, and including, the year he turned 21.
Lukaku, who scored 25 league goals this season, rejected an offer of a contract extension from Everton early this season because he wants to play for a club challenging for trophies.
According to Evening Standard, Morata, who scored 20 goals for Real this season despite limited opportunities, is aware Chelsea’s interest has cooled and is exploring other options.
