Chelsea striker Diego Costa is set to leave Stamford Bridge after Chelsea boss Antonio Conte told him via SMS that he isn’t needed at Stamford Bridge.
Here are clubs most likely to sign Costa after he was asked to leave Chelsea this summer.
1. MANCHESTER UNITED
Manchester United need a striker for next season with Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic out injured. Jose Mourinho know Costa very well as he is the man who brought the Spanish striker to Chelsea and Mourinho would try to sign Costa after he was declared not needed at Chelsea. Selling to a direct rival would be a mistake by Chelsea as Costa would strengthen a Manchester United team that struggled to win games last season. No Chelsea fan would want this scenario.
2. AC MILAN
AC Milan are reportedly weighing a move for Diego Costa after Alvaro Morata rejected their advances. AC Milan are in the market for a top striker and the Seria A club, backed by Chinese owners, have the money to make a move for Costa. Chelsea fans would definitely prefer Costa left Chelsea for AC Milan and not Manchester United.
3. ATLETICO MADRID
Diego Costa recently stated he would only leave Chelsea for Atletico Madrid and the Spanish club tried signing the striker last summer. The move is unlikely to happen this summer as Atletico Madrid have been banned from signing any player this summer.
4. INTER MILAN
Inter Milan is another likely option for Diego Costa as the Serie A club with Chinese owners have the money to fund a transfer for the striker and pay his wages. Inter Milan haven’t been linked with Costa but I won’t be surprised if the Serie A club become interested after Conte made Costa available for transfer.
PSG striker Edison Cavani wanted to leave France for the Chinese Super League during the January transfer window. PSG would seriously consider making a move for Diego Costa if Cavani leaves for China this summer as Costa would be a perfect replacement for the Uruguayan forward.
6. ANY CHINESE CLUB
The Chinese Super League love signing top European players and with Costa now available, I expect many Chinese clubs to make a move for the striker. Tianjin Quanjian were linked with Costa during the January transfer window and they might make a return for the striker this summer. However, I doubt Costa would want to move to the Chinese league with the World Cup around the corner.
