Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has been linked with a move to Manchester United this summer but the 30-year-old isn’t interested in leaving Stamford Bridge unless Chelsea tell him that he can leave, according to reports.
The Telegraph via Metro UK claim Fabregas is ready to fight for his place in Chelsea next season despite struggling to play regularly under Antonio Conte last season.
Despite starting just 13 Premier League games last season, Fabregas still managed five goals and 12 assists to help Chelsea win the Premier League title.
Speaking after Chelsea’s FA Cup defeat to Arsenal at Wembley, Fabregas hinted he wanted to play more and he would fight for his place.
“Every player wants to play more. This is in the genes of a winner. I am one of them and I will never put my head down or hands down. I want to fight,” Fabregas said.
“[I’m] not necessarily [wanting to leave Chelsea], but, in football, you can never say never. Everything can happen.
“I feel loved by the fans here. Every time I have played, I have shown I can play at the top level in this team, by far.
“It is all about trying to change the manager’s decision, but he wants what’s best for the team.”
