Chelsea defender Gary Cahill started for England in their World Cup qualifier against Scotland at Hampden Park yesterday afternoon, but the 31-year-old was denied the captain armband by new England boss Gareth Southgate.
Instead, the England head coach selected Spurs striker Harry Kane to be the skipper for the Three Lions, the first time the 23-year-old will have captained England.
Chelsea and England supporters have reacted angrily at Southgate’s decision.
Harry Kane captain over Gary Cahill? Jesus Christ, Southgate.

Cahill's had his best ever season, always turns up for England & captained a side to be Premier League Champions. Why's Kane Captain ffs? 😂😂

@BBCSport Cahill or Hart would have been a perfect fit as Captain, Is Kane ready for that kind of pressure? Remains to be seen.
