We finished the 2016/17 season in England as the best team by a mile, not just by winning the league, but also playing some decent football while at it. We were the best team in the division, and although we eventually seemed to slow down when beaten by rivals like Man Utd and Tottenham, we were definitely better than every other team overall.

As the season ended, I did fear we might struggle a little next season, especially with other top 6 teams identifying targets so early, and Chelsea, not really doing anything similar, but all that is in the past now, and I can beat my chest, and say that we will not have a single problem defending our title next season…At least, Conte is working hard to make sure that is the case.

We started the transfer window unsure of whom to get, but then, in a blink of an eye, we are on the verge of getting serious quality this week. According to reports, Juventus wing back Alex Sandro is set to join us, just like Monaco midfielder, Tiemoue Bakayoko. If these deals pull through, Chelsea will definitely be stronger for it. I don’t want to completely celebrate just yet, because the signings aren’t completed for now; besides, our attacking forward isn’t here yet.

Things are looking good for us, and I hope that by this time in July, we would have concluded our businesses, so the new recruits can blend in time with the rest of the team.

Indeed the future is bright for Chelsea. KTBFFH

King Jay is a writer/broadcaster with years of experience under his belt. His love affair with Chelsea actually began as a joke, but today, he stands tall as a die-hard blue. What makes him perfect for this blog? He lives for Chelsea FC, in fact, I heard he sat in the middle of a road, and refused to go home after that bitter loss to Barcelona in 2009. Haha.
