Chelsea and Liverpool are leading the race to sign Uruguayan wonderkid Gustavo Viera according to a report on Metro.co.uk.
The 16-year-old striker has been likened to compatriot Luis Suarez and he is also a fan of Chelsea.
Viera currently plays for Liverpool in Uruguay after recently breaking into the club’s first team.
The club’s sporting director, Gonzalo Mattos revealed the 16-year-old might be on the move to Europe soon.
“I think Europe he could go in a short while,” Gonzalo Mattos told the Sun via Metro.co.uk.
“Of course he can play in the Premier League.
“Fundamentally for two reasons.
“One because of his great ability to play at the same level against top players or against his own age, his scoring ability, another because he has top-level physical levels, he has a speed and physical level that others simply do not have.”
Viera revealed last year that he was a fan of Chelsea.
“I like of course Luis Suarez from his time in Liverpool. Liverpool and Chelsea are my two favourite teams. I enjoyed the physical side of the English game,” Viera said.
“It’s a top league and I like London, my agent lives there and I have been to stay there with him. I would like to play for either Liverpool or Chelsea but just to play in the Premier League is a dream of mine.”
