Chelsea are reportedly interested in Real Madrid attacking midfielder James Rodriguez but the Blues won’t pay an outrageous amount for a fringe player.

Real Madrid want £70 million for James Rodriguez and according to Evening Standard, Chelsea aren’t willing to meet Real Madrid’s asking price for the Colombian captain.

Rodriguez made just 13 league starts last season and the 25-year-old didn’t even make the bench for Real Madrid’s Champions League final win over Juventus last month.

Real Madrid signed Rodriguez for a fee of £63million in 2014 after a successful World Cup campaign and the La Liga club are still looking to make a profit on Rodriguez despite his limited role for Real Madrid.

Chelsea would love to sign the Colombian but won’t pay £70 million for a fringe player.
