Tiemoue Bakayako had a spectacular season with Monaco and was influential in their rise to the top of the French league as well as the Champions League semifinals.
The 22-year-old still showed some rough edges in his game during the Champions League last season and French football expert Julien Laurens believes Chelsea manager Antonio Conte can make him the finished player.
“The thing that Bakayoko needs to get next season and where Conte is going to be a huge help, is the concentration, the focus,” Laurens said on ESPN FC.
“We saw for example the first game against Manchester City in the Champions League where he would do 15 great minutes and for 10 minutes disappear from the game and then another 15 great minutes, and after that disappear again.
“I think he needs that consistency through the same game and I think Conte will help him stay on the same focus, stay on the same level always and then have peaks now and then, but never go missing like he’s done a bit for Monaco, especially in the big games this season.
“I think Conte would be perfect for him like he was with N’Golo Kante.
“I think playing with Kante for Bakayoko having another Frenchman there would be perfect and the way Chelsea are playing in the Premier League, he’s so physical, he’s so strong.
“It would be perfect for him, I just hope he adapts quickly to Conte’s methods and to the way the Premier League is being played.”
