Chelsea will definitely need to lunge into the transfer market to beef up the squad ahead of next season’s title defence and participation in the UEFA Champions League.
While four players have left the team, Chelsea are yet to make its first signing, and the Blues is reportedly close to making Monaco midfielder Tiemoue Bakayako the first signing this summer.
According to the Independent, Blues boss Antonio Conte views Bakayoko as key to adding more ‘thrust’ to his side, and it appears the 22-year-old will be the second Monaco star to leave the French champions after Bernardo Silva’s move to Manchester City have been confirmed.
The Independent report Chelsea are in talks to seal a £42 million deal for the 22-year-old.
Bakayako was a key part of Monaco’s scintillating performance last season.
