Chelsea have been strongly linked with Everton striker Romelu Lukaku and the 24-year-old is said to be interested in a move to Stamford Bridge.
However, Everton and Chelsea are yet to agree a fee for the Belgian forward. Everton are keen on making so much from this deal but they have gone ahead to sign what might be Lukaku’s replacement, with expectations that the former Chelsea striker returns to Stamford Bridge.
Henry Onyekuru was on his way to Arsenal before Everton hijacked the deal for the Nigerian striker.
The 20-year-old lit up the Belgian top flight in the 2016-17 season at Eupen, scoring an impressive 24 goals and contributing nine assists in 41 games across all competitions.
With the Nigerian international signing up for Everton, it might just soften Everton’s stance on Lukaku and it sure suggests Everton are ready for an exit for Lukaku.
However, the 20-year-old might be more of a long-term replacement as he only has an entry visa to the UK and will spend the season on loan with Anderlecht. Everton have also been linked with Moussa Dembele as a replacement for Lukaku.
