Chelsea are rumoured to be close to signing Everton striker Romelu Lukaku, and many people associated with the club have differing views about the 24-year-old.
While some football pundits have hailed Chelsea’s move for Lukaku, many are unsure and the feelings among the Chelsea fans seemed divided as well.
With Diego Costa set to leave this summer after another fallout with Chelsea boss Antonio Conte, some Blues’ fans are concerned if Lukaku can adequately replace the 20-goal hero who helped Chelsea to win the league with his goalscoring feat twice in the last three seasons.
Former Chelsea midfielder and assistant manager Ray Wilkins believes Lukaku will replace Costa pretty well, but believes Chelsea legend Didier Drogba is irreplaceable.
“If you look at Chelsea over the last x amount of years, you’ve had the Drog,” he said on Sky Sports.
“They will never find another Drogba, he was the best.
“Then they had Costa and now Lukaku just is a perfect fit.
“If Costa was to go I think he would be the perfect fit to come into Chelsea.”
Drogba scored 164 goals for Chelsea across two spells, winning four Premier League titles and four FA Cups, and will best be remembered for delivering Chelsea’s UEFA Champions League trophy in 2012 with his exceptional performance.
