Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has reportedly held talks about becoming the next manager of Oxford United according to a report on Bleacher Report.

The 39-year-old who called time on his playing career in February is being seriously considered for the vacancy in League One club.

Lampard is however facing strong competition for the job from Pep Clotet, who was Garry Monk’s assistant at Swansea and Leeds.

However, Lampard’s close relationship with Oxford’s director Dave Jones, who is leading a three-man panel to find their next manager, could help Lampard secure the job.
