Germany international defender Antonio Rudiger is close to joining Chelsea with Sky Sports claiming Chelsea have agreed a £33.4million deal with Roma to sign the centre-back.
According to Sky Sports, Rudiger is set to undergo a medical on Monday and finalise personal terms on a five-year contract.
Reports emerged early today that Chelsea were interested in signing the 24-year-old defender and Chelsea have been quick to get the deal done with the report claiming Chelsea will pay £29m up-front with a further £4.4m in add-ons.
Chelsea were encouraged to make a move for Rudiger’s teammate Kostas Manolas after his move to Zenit fell through but Chelsea opted to go for Rudiger instead.
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is keen to sign a central defender following the departures of John Terry and Nathan AKe on Friday. Southampton are also refusing to sell Chelsea transfer target Virgil van Dijk.
