Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois confirmed his desire to stay at Chelsea after the Blues ended the season as Premier League champions.
The 24-year-old is currently earning £100,000 per week at Chelsea and is set to be rewarded with a new contract.
However, The Times claim negotiations over Courtois’ new contract at Chelsea have stalled over the goalkeeper’s wage demands and, without further talks scheduled, he could start the season without a deal being reached.
Courtois has two years left on his contract, and hopes to earn something similar to what David De Gea is receiving at Manchester United.
De Gea is paid twice the amount Courtois is currently earning and the Belgium goalkeeper believes that the increase is justified after he recorded the highest number of clean sheets in the league last season as Chelsea won the title.
