With reports rife that Antonio Conte has clashed with the Chelsea board over transfer inactivity so far (a rumour which seems more false than true), a recent report by the Mirror claim Chelsea have no intention of allowing Conte leave Stamford Bridge — and will back him with a £250million spending spree to prove it.
The report claims there has been no progress in Chelsea’s bid to make Conte the highest-paid manager in club history, with a contract offer worth nearly £10million a year still on the table. But the report also suggests that Chelsea are ready to back the Italian in the transfer market with some major deals still in the pipeline.
According to the Mirror, Chelsea are in advanced negotiations to land £40m midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko from Monaco. The Blues are already expected to confirm the arrival of £75million striker Romelu Lukaku from Everton, have another Juve player, left-back Alex Sandro, in their sights — and are prepared to buy more players on top of that quartet, and a £50 million deal for Leonardo Bonucci seems to be on the pipeline as well.
