Chelsea are geared up to signing Juventus left-back Alex Sandro and former West Ham goalkeeper Shaka Hislop believes the capture of Sandro would help keep the likes of Eden Hazard on board, but he is keen to discover how the new signings will adapt to Antonio Conte’s philosophy.
“You’ve just got to start looking at what the knock-on effect maybe, in terms of Eden Hazard and I’m sure there will be lots of speculation about him and his future between now and the end of August,” the former West Ham keeper said.
“There always is, regardless. But as we sit right now I don’t think Eden Hazard leaves Stamford Bridge, this pushes Eden Hazard further up and now you start thinking what Chelsea will look like in 17/18 under Antonio Conte.
“The (Romelu) Lukaku speculation continues, does he play with a front three? How do Chelsea shape up?
“Those are the questions in my mind that start to pop up. Not whether Alex Sandro is a good fit or a good buy because, as I mentioned, without question he is a good fit wherever he goes.
Hislop believes Sandro is the best left-back in the world, second only to Real Madrid’s Marcelo.
“If you can’t get Marcelo, and you can’t, Alex Sandro is easily the second best option,” he said.
