Chelsea will be in the Champions League next season after ending the last campaign as Premier League champions.

Chelsea, who won the Champions League for the first time in 2012 and still remain the last English side to do so, missed out on Champions League football in the concluded campaign, having ended the 2015/16 season in 10th position.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has never gone past the Champions League quarterfinals, and Newcastle legend Alan Shearer believes Chelsea chiefs will demand so much from him and the Italian will also push himself to the limit to make sure Chelsea have a good season in the Champions League.

He told BBC Sport: “Antonio Conte does not have a great record in the competition, but that has to change because of where Chelsea demand to be.

“We already know how driven Conte is, so he will target more personal success too.”
