Southampton lodged an official complaint with the Football Association earlier this week, with the club accusing Liverpool of ‘tapping up’ their defender.
The Saints are now examining Chelsea’s level of contact with Virgil van Dijk ahead of another potential complaint to the Football Association according to independent.ie.
Southampton believe Chelsea have staged detailed talks with the defender without the permission of the club.
The report claims a possible complaint to the FA over Chelsea’s approaches for Van Dijk is being considered, with Southampton now ‘more determined than ever’ to block any move for the player unless a massive offer is made for the Dutch defender.
According to independent.ie, Southampton would only sell Van DIjk if an offer in excess of £70 million is received.
