The transfer period can be quite exhilarating and confusing at times, and Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk has found himself on the confusing side in what has been an eventful window so far, even though the transfer window officially opens on July 1st.

The Southampton defender looked set to join Liverpool just 24 hours ago, however his planned move to Jurgen Klopp’s team has been cancelled as Liverpool have pulled out of the race.

The Saints threatened to complain to the Premier League about Liverpool’s approach for the 25-year-old, which resulted in an apology from the Reds and the club stating that they were ‘ending their interest’ in him.

Van Dijk is definitely in a state of confusion at the moment, and his tweet below after the events of yesterday says it all.

Currently, Chelsea and Manchester City are the two clubs left on his trail.
