Real Madrid want away star James Rodriguez is on the verge of leaving the Spanish giants, after another frustrating season spent mostly on the bench, for the second year in a row.

The 25-year-old has been on the radar of several clubs across Europe, but AS report that Chelsea are close to agreeing a fee of around £70 million for the Colombian.

The Colombian is deemed surplus to requirements at the Bernabeu, with Zinedine Zidane hoping to sell him in order to fund the transfer of another rumoured Chelsea target Kylian Mbappe.

Chelsea and Manchester United are among the favourites to land Rodriguez, and the report claims the Blues tried to sign Rodriguez in January, but the player decided to stay at Real Madrid.

His omission from Real’s squad for the Champions League final has angered Rodriguez the more and he wants out of the Champions League winners.

With Eden Hazard set to miss the start of the new season, his signing would be a like-for-like replacement for Hazard, who is set to be out of action till September due to an ankle injury he sustained in training just last week with the Belgium national team.
